Installing CentOS 7 in Vmware Workstation Pro
- Dowload CentOS 7 from here. Choose DVD ISO which is around 4.7 GB in size.
- After downloading the .iso file open VMware Workstation pro which you installed from previous tutorial: Here
- You will see a screen like above. Choose Create a New Virtual Machine. A new popup will appear like in figure below.
- Choose Typical option and then Next.
- Then you will get option to select the disc or iso file. Choose Installer disc image file(.iso) to install from iso file. Locate the CentOS 7 iso that you downloaded before by using Browse option. Then select Next.
- Then you have to enter Full name for the OS, username and password for the user account. This password will be for both user account and root account. After entering details, Next option will be selectable.
- Enter Virtual machine name and Location to store this virtual machine.
- Now you will see some details of your virtual machine. Here you also have the option to customize hardware requirements for the virtual machine. Click on Customize Hardware and you will get new window to specify hardware options.
- For memory specify at least 8GB Ram for smooth operation.
- Now you have to specify disk capacity. Since we are going to work on Xilinx Vivado and PetaLinux, you should specify at least 150GB hard disk space for the virtual machine. Leave other options as it is and select Next.
- For processor, choose Number of cores per processor 4. And then close. Then select Finish.
- The installation process will start and is seamless. The VMware will take care of all the process. The installation will take 15 to 30 minutes.
- After installation you have to agree to license agreement. Tick the I accept the license agreement checkbox at the bottom and then choose Done on the top.
- Now the installation is complete and you will be greeted with login screen.
